description :

featured in FRAME magazine issue 143, the sponge school is a response to the question: how can a school campus be more porous and connected to the community? it utilizes the sponge as both a literal interpretation of a porous object and a metaphor for the ever-absorbing student. using voronoi-generating computational methods, a fluid and porous form is created to connect the school to it’s physical surroundings. the scale and spacing of each voronoi cell can be programmed to any size and configuration, thus serving as a kit of parts that can be customized for any community demographic.
